Many manufactuers participated in the Can-Am at one time or another with various
degrees of success. Here are a few of them.
BRM
P154
BRM entered Can-Am racers in 1970 and 1971. This car was originally driven by
George Eaton in 1970. In 1971 it was updated into a P167 and driven by Pedro
Rodrigues. Here its been restored as a P154 with Jost Kalisch behind the wheel.
FERRARI
612
Chris Amon raced this car in 1968. Robert Dusek waits to take to the track here.
HONKER II FORD
The Ford powered Honker II saw limited action during the 1967 Can-Am season with Mario
Andretti behind the wheel. Yes, that paint is correct -- metallic lavender.
And yes, that's Paul Newman the actor and racer who's name is on the nose. Andretti
disliked the car so much that he wanted his name on the nose and Newman to drive it.
The car is named after John "Honker" Holman of Holman and Moody, who was the
car's entrant.
MARCH 717
This car started life in 1970 as one of three March 707s built. Although Chris
Amon raced an STP sponsored car in the Can-Am, this car was raced in Europe by Helmut
Kelleneor. It was updated into a 717 in 1971, and is the only 717 made. Chris
Chiles is the driver in these photos.
McKEE MK6, MK7, MK14
The silver #13 is a MK6 raced by Bud Clusserath in 1966 and by Mike Odell in 1996.
The red #67 is MK7 driven by Bob Stanford in 1967 and Michael Kalashian in 1996.
The orange car is a MK14, powered by a turbocharged CroSal Olds. Ralph Saylor
drove it in 1969.
