The American Le Mans Series Lone Star Grand Prix was held May 11-12 in conjunction with the Champ Car Grand Prix of Houston. The venue was the parking lots and access roads around Reliant Park, which is where Reliant Stadium (home of the NFL Houston Texans) and the old Astrodome are located. These photos were originally taken for the now defunct RacingPress.com.

2006 Lone Star GP ALMS Race

The 2 hour & 45 minute race was run Friday evening, starting in light and ending in darkness. Overall & P1 Winners was the Audi Sport North America R8 of Allan McNish & Renaldo Capello. P2 winner was the Intersport Racing Lola-AER of Clint Field & Liz Halliday. The GT1 winner was the Corvette Racing C6-R of Oliver Gavin & Olivier Beretta. The GT2 winner was the Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 of Mike Rockenfeller & Klaus Graf

1995 Seitel Texas World Grand Prix

On September 8, 9, and 10 of 1995, the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) came to Texas World Speedway (TWS) in College Station, Texas, for the Seitel Texas World Grand Prix presented by Ferrari of Houston. The weekend would consist of a 6 hour Street Stock race, a Barber Dodge race, two Ferrari Challenge races, and the 3-hour headline race for the Exxon World Sport Car Championship and Exxon Supreme GT Series. TWS had been newly refurbished and this was the first major race to be held there in about 15 years. Being an “infield road course” that used part of the track’s oval, it is not one of the most photogenic facilities. Although the grandstands were a great place to watch the race from, as you could see the entire track from there, the infield had few areas to photograph the race without a very long lens (which I did not have).

A few days before the IMSA World Sports Car teams descended on Texas World Speedway, the Power Macintosh Racing team visited the campus of Schlumberger Oilfield Services in Sugar Land, Texas, to show off their Oldsmobile-powered Spice.

1995 Seitel GP Ferrari Challenge

There were two Ferrari Challenge races over the weekend - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Both were won by Peter Sachs. His winning car, like all the cars in the two races, was a Ferrari 348tb.

A Barber Dodge Pro race was held on Sunday before the main event. The half-hour sprint was won by Frederic Larson.

1995 Seitel GP Sunday WSC race.

3-hour race for the IMSA WSC and GTS cars. Wayne Taylor in the Momo Ferrari 33SP would just nip Michele Alboreto in one of the Scandia Ferrari 333SPs for the overall and WSC win. Irv Hoerr in a Brix Racing Olds Cutlass Supreme would finish 5th overall and first in GTS-1. Bill Auberlen would drive a Mazda RX-7 to 10th overall and first in GTS-2.
